Finally a sign I can read!

August 26th, 2007

When I was surfing the net, I stumbled upon a sign which I could actually read without using a translating tool. How about that!
Hopefully they'll be using signs like this in our neighborhood as well, that would mean that I can finally find my way :)

New button

May 3rd, 2007

Did you notice the cool new button in my sidebar? I got nominated for a Blogger's Choice Award. How cool is that?!?
Well, actually I nominated myself, but for some reason I managed to pass their screening.

You can vote for me right here, if you want to.
And you know you want to...
You don't?
Aaah, please?
Not even if I offer you a cookie?

My sincere apologies...

Hi there, this is The One Who Feeds Django Every Day. Django asked me to write a post for him. He wanted me to give an official statement about his whereabouts. However, I'm not allowed to write more than just this single post for him, so this is the first and the last time I will contributing to this blog.

Django has received a couple of emails, forum PMs and blog comments about whether he was still alive or not. I couldn't foresee that my trip to the US would have such an impact on him. I also didn't know that he had such an amount of fans, by the way.

Ok, here's the official part: Yes, Django is still alive and he will be blogging again real soon. His absence during the past few weeks was my fault. I put the computer on the top shelf, so Django couldn't reach the on/off button. My sincere apologies for leaving to the US and storing the PC out of Django's reach, what lead into almost three weeks of not a single blog post. Please accept these pictures I made last week in NY as an apology.

I have put the computer on the bottom shelf now, so Django can control the PC with his own paws.

Stormy weather

January 18th, 2007

A big part of Europe is suffering from a big storm. It is the biggest storm in the Netherlands in about 25 years, with a wind measuring 11 on the Beaufort scale. Unlike in -for example- the US, we usually don't have major storms and we've even had a Hurricane only once (back in 1944).

Below are some pictures of the damage

Summer's coming!

December 21st, 2006

Tomorrow (December 22st) is the Northern Hemisphere's winter solstice. What do you mean, 'I don't know what you're talking about'? Don't you know what the Northern Hemisphere's winter solstice is?!?

Ok, I also didn't know what that was, I just found out a few minutes ago. In short, it's the shortest day of the year, when you live on the Northern hemisphere. Tomorrow, the sun will come up at 8:46AM and it will get dark around 4.30PM. That means that it will be light for only 8 hours tomorrow!

After tomorrow, it will stay light for a longer period of time each day. That means summer is coming. Wooohooo!

The website statistics tell me that I have a lot of visitors from overseas. From my point of view, the UK, the US, Australia and Canada are overseas.

I have been reading about a couple of (mainly US) holidays, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving over the past few weeks on some other Pug blogs. Because I enjoyed reading about those holidays, I thought you might enjoy reading about a typical Dutch holiday as well; Sinterklaas.

Sinterklaas (it looks a bit like Santa Claus) is an annual event which has been uniquely Dutch and Flemish (Belgian) for centuries. It's being celebrated on the 5th of December each year. Sinterklaas brings presents to every child that has been good in the past year (in practice to all children). Sinterklaas wears a red bishop's dress including a red mitre, rides a white horse (called Amerigo) over the rooftops and is assisted by many mischievous helpers with black faces and colourful Moorish dresses, dating back two centuries.

It looks a bit like Christmas with all the presents, but in stead of elves, Sinterklaas has Pieten (the Moorish people) to assist him. In stead of living on the North Pole and riding on a sled, Sinterklaas lives in Madrid, Spain and arrives by boat. A big similarity is that both Santa Clause and Sinterklaas use the chimney to deliver their presents.

Sinterklaas arrives by boat

If I didn't bore you with this story about Sinterklaas, you can read more about him in this Wikipedia article.

Blurry pics

Does anyone have a phone with a camera that shoots sharp pictures? Because I move all the time, The Certain Someone isn't capeable of shooting sharp pictures...

See what I mean?

The regular camera can capture my moving butt a bit better, but the phone camera is too fuzzy. Suggestions, anyone?

I'm spam-protected :)

August 24th, 2006

Apparently, my blog is very popular for some people who like to promote their pills and/ or pornography websites. I don't think that a Pug Blog is in any way related to diet pills, nor do I want to enlarge my penis (who wants to, anyway?). Therefore, I have decided to spam-protect the blog post comments. If you ever want to leave me a comment, you'll have to type over some code. If you encouter problems with this captcha, please drop me an email, so I can test it a little more...

You can test out the comments, if you like ;)
